RACE TO WITCH MOUNTAIN
Is a remake movie, whish is made up in many aspect, from a thriller but entertaining movie in 1975, Escape to Witch Mountain. In this time, the main character is one of adorable actor for Disney comedy-action maniac, The Rock a.k.a Dwayne Johnson, after getting success through the game plan..
Jade Bruno (Dwayne Johnson) is an ex-prisoner who is now working as a taxi driver in Las Vegas . His ex-boss asked his men/subordinates to force Jack back to criminal world which he really wants to leave. After knocking the two thugs down, Jack run away and find two kids, Sara (Anna Sophia Robb) and Seth (Alexander Ludwig), slinking in his taxi. Being tempted by a bunch of money, Jack was asked to escort them to a remote place in the middle of unusual hot dessert outside the joyful of Las Vegas .
Jack has felt something wrong when he received $15.000 from Sara and Seth. Nothing’s cheap for deadly adventure that is nearing. The fact, Sara and Seth are a couple of alien whom spaceshot fell down into the earth. They were pursued by Siphon (Tom Woodruff Jr.), an alien which is formed particularly to hunt and destroy the kids. Besides, the US government also looks for those little alien under the leading of man in black, Henry Burke (Ciaran Hinds), luckily, Sara and Seth can do something beyond people’s mind, such as, telekinesis, mind reading, etc. Fortunately Jack meets a pretty UFO scientist, Dr. Alex Friedman (Carla Gugino), who will help them.
Throughout history, Disney always dedicates its movie to the children. The specific characteristic which always be pointed/emphasized are a maximal entertainment side, the loyalable protagonists, the disgusting antagonists and the presence of children which will enclose the show to the children under age 10. As a result, such movie like this isn’t easy to be observed through an adult point of view, such as reviewing the objective of a comedy annually.
To point Race to witch Mountain, we have to be 10-years-old children in our mind. Watching this movie through an adult capacity will arouse a misunderstanding because Race to Witch Mountain presents a very light script, a lighter dialogue, the thrilling plot by the kids, and fantasy which will abuse an adult mind.
Two characters established by Sara and Seth are performed cheerfully by Anna Sophia Robb and Alexander Ludwig, though Robb has blossomed and looked sexier than her physical performance in Bridge to Terabithia. Besides that, for Dwayne Johnson, this is a propaganda action filled by another amusement which is suitable with his sufficient acting. The dialogue and mimic shown are not tasty, but his presence as a protagonist is significant and loveable. Disney considers that Johnson’s presence is a Race to Witch Mountain value raiser, eventhough logically his character as a Jack is not really essential to “help” the two miraculous children with a super ability to fly a car by snapping a finger.
