THE GREAT BUCK HOWARD
This movie tells about Troy Gable (Collin Hanks), a low student dropped out from his college and being jobless. Fortunately, he is offended a position as a manager of Buck Howard (John Malkovich), a street magician who is not famous anymore.
One day Buck Howard who can read other’s minds and hypnotize his audience aims to hold his comeback show to make him popular again. Although his father forbids him, Troy continues traveling around the city with Buck. He gets many lessons from Buck which he does not get in his law school. He learns about life of the mentalist as well. Unwisely, this comedy drama which is limited launched is alive, funny and touching because of the experience of its director, Sean Mc Ginly. The teacher as well as the writer, Mc Ginly had been a manager of a magician The Amazing Kreskin in 1980’s. The Great Buck Howard is so interesting because John Malkovich playing in this movie is one of the best actors and it is produced by Tom Hanks whom also act in this movie. His son’s talent, Collin Hanks playing important role as main character seems better. Once more, it is regretted that why the movie appraised in Sundance 2008 is late launched and there are only a view cinemas in which it is shown.
